Arina Pismenny specializes in moral psychology, ethics, and philosophy of mind, with a focus on emotion. Her doctoral thesis, The Syndrome of Romantic Love, is an analysis of romantic love as a mental phenomenon. Her current research projects investigate the role of recalcitrant emotions – emotions that conflict with one’s explicit judgments – in the authenticity of the self, responsibility and weakness of will, imaginative resistance, and implicit biases.
