Jasmine Yu-Hsing Chen specializes in 20th-21st century Chinese and Sinophone theatre, media, visual cultures, and literature. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, her first book project themed on how cross-cultural performance reshapes the performer and the audience’s perception of artistry, nation, and gender. Her second project emphasizes how works engage multiple genres and forms of new media. Subject matter and history from Taiwanese theatre, dance, cinema, and visual cultures are woven together in her research, with comparative connections made with Japan, China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and the West. Currently, she serves as a guest editor of the International Journal of Taiwan Studies.
